Ingredients

400g firm tofu, drained and pressed

1 cup sesame seeds (white and black for color)

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for frying)

Fresh coriander, for garnish

Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and set aside.

Marinate the Tofu: In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, maple syrup, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Add the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Coat the Tofu: In a shallow dish, combine the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt. Roll each marinated tofu cube in the cornstarch mixture until evenly coated.

Sesame Coating: Place the sesame seeds on a plate and press the cornstarch-coated tofu cubes into the seeds, ensuring all sides are well coated.

Fry the Tofu: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the tofu cubes in a single layer and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Avoid overcrowding the pan; fry in batches if necessary.

Drain Excess Oil: Once crispy, transfer the tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Serve: Arrange crispy tofu on a serving platter. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with lime wedges for squeezing over the top.

                Prep Time: 15 min | Total Time: 30 min | Servings: 4

                  - Presentation Tips: Serve the tofu croustillant on a large platter garnished with sprigs of coriander, and place lime wedges around. Pair it with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, chili flakes, and a touch of honey for added flavor on the side. Enjoy with a bowl of steamed jasmine rice!
