Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tablespoon red food coloring

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup powdered sugar, for coating

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together with a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until fully combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. The dough will be thick and slightly sticky.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.

Once chilled, scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll them into balls.

Roll each ball in powdered sugar until completely coated, then place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops have formed beautiful crinkles.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: About 24 cookies

                        - Presentation Tips: Serve these cookies stacked in a festive cookie jar or on a decorative platter, dusted with extra powdered sugar for a delightful visual touch.
