Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup whole milk, warm

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup Nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg until well combined.

In another bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for about 30 minutes at room temperature.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a deep fryer or a large, heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter or two round cookie cutters to cut out donut shapes.

Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the donuts into the oil in batches (don’t overcrowd the pot) and fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown.

Remove the fried donuts and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

While still warm, fill a piping bag fitted with a round tip with Nutella. Insert the tip into the side of each donut and squeeze gently to fill them with Nutella.

Finally, dust the filled donuts with powdered sugar before serving.

Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 12 donuts

                        - Presentation Tips: Arrange the donuts on a beautiful serving platter and drizzle a little melted Nutella on top for an elegant finish. You can also garnish with chocolate sprinkles for added texture. Enjoy!
