Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

1 cup broccoli florets

1 cup shredded carrots

1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. This will be your marinade.

Add the thinly sliced flank steak to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor).

While the meat is marinating, prepare the vegetables. Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for about 2 minutes until vibrant green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Cook for 2-3 minutes until nicely browned, stirring occasionally.

Once the beef is cooked, add the blanched broccoli and shredded carrots to the skillet. Stir to combine and heat through for an additional 2 minutes.

To assemble the bowls, divide the cooked jasmine rice among serving bowls. Top each bowl with the beef and vegetable mixture.

Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor and crunch.
