Ingredients

1 lb beef ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced

4 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 green onions, finely chopped (plus more for garnish)

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Lettuce leaves, for serving (like romaine or butter lettuce)

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, gochugaru, and rice vinegar. Mix until the sugar is dissolved. Add the thinly sliced beef and ensure that each piece is well-coated with the marinade. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for more flavor).

Preheat the Grill or Skillet: If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. If using a skillet, heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

Cook the Beef: Remove the marinated beef from the refrigerator. For grilling, lay the beef slices directly on the grill grates and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until nicely charred and cooked through. For a skillet, add a touch of oil to the pan and cook the beef for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked to your liking.

Serve: Once cooked, transfer the beef to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Assembly: To enjoy, place a few pieces of beef in a lettuce leaf, add a scoop of rice, and wrap it up. Alternatively, you can serve the beef over cooked jasmine rice for a satisfying bowl.

              - Presentation Tips: Serve the beef with the lettuce leaves and rice on a large platter, allowing guests to customize their wraps. Add extra sesame seeds and sliced cucumbers on the side for an appealing touch.
