Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 large onions, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for flavor)

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Toss everything until the beef is evenly coated and set aside for about 15 minutes to marinate.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over high heat until it begins to shimmer.

Add the marinated beef in a single layer and allow it to sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring. Once browned, turn the beef to cook on the other side for another 2 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onions, bell pepper, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the onions are translucent and bell pepper is soft.

Return the beef to the pan along with soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and hoisin sauce. Stir to coat the beef and vegetables in the sauce, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined.

Drizzle the sesame oil over the stir-fry just before serving and give it a final toss.

Serve immediately garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds if desired.
