1 cup fresh basil leaves

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon balsamic glaze

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

Instructions

Begin by washing the fresh basil leaves and gently patting them dry. Set aside.

On a large serving platter, alternate layers of sliced tomatoes and mozzarella, slightly overlapping them.

Tuck fresh basil leaves between the layers of tomatoes and mozzarella to create a beautiful visual display.

Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly over the arranged salad.

Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze for added sweetness and acidity.

Season with salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and if you choose, a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.

Allow the salad to sit for about 10 minutes at room temperature before serving to let the flavors meld together beautifully.
