1 cup almond butter (or any nut/seed butter)

1 cup pure maple syrup

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (dairy-free)

Optional: 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans for added texture

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.

    In a mixing bowl, combine the almond butter and maple syrup until smooth and well blended.

      Sift in the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt, then stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

        Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips and, if using, the chopped nuts.

          Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, and spread it evenly.

            Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

              Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before using the parchment overhang to lift it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

                Cut into squares and serve!
