Ingredients

1 loaf of brioche bread, cubed (about 8 cups)

6 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Pinch of salt

1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Maple syrup and powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the cubed brioche bread and any chopped nuts if using. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Mix the Custard: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

Assemble the Casserole: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are saturated. Gently press down on the bread with your hands to help it absorb the liquid. Sprinkle the blueberries on top.

Chill (optional): For best results, cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight, allowing the flavors to meld and the bread to soak up the custard.

Bake the Casserole: Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil.

Serve Warm: Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before cutting it into squares. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour (plus chill time) | Servings: 8-10

                - Presentation Tips: Serve directly from the dish for a cozy feel, or plate individual squares with a sprinkle of additional blueberries and a light drizzle of maple syrup over the top.
