Ingredients

4 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup granulated sugar

Pinch of salt

¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat the apples evenly.

Transfer the apple mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish or a baking dish.

In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, softened butter, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt until crumbly. You can use your hands or a fork to incorporate the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.

If desired, stir in the chopped walnuts or pecans for added crunch.

Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple mixture in the baking dish, ensuring all apples are covered.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
